1. What is your fitness background and experience?
I’ve been in the fitness industry for 13 years, starting with my own weight loss of 180 pounds, which ignited my passion for fitness and the power of exercise and nutrition. I’ve progressed from a beginner to a Master Trainer and served as a Fitness Manager at a major gym, where I helped other trainers grow. Now at Formula Fitness, I’m here to help clients discover their path to fitness success.
2.What is your fitness philosophy or training approach?
I believe fitness is crucial for a quality, happy life, as being healthy and strong is essential. My training method is all about sustainable habits and education, simplifying the process for our clients and focusing on key changes. With us, you’ll see results and learn to maintain them on your own, ensuring ongoing success in your fitness journey!
3.What are your specific areas of expertise within fitness?
I have a strong background in Body Weight/Fat Reduction, Strength/Resistance Training, Increasing Muscle, Biomechanics, and Nutrition. I’ve learned these things through different Nationally Accredited Certification companies and my own 20-
year Fitness Journey.
4. Can you share a success story or memorable client achievement you've been a part of?
When I began as a Personal Trainer, my initial tasks were to grow my client base. Among the many clients I acquired, one woman’s journey has been particularly memorable. During our initial appointment, she laughed at me when we sat down to talk about the program. I knew that if I could communicate my message, I would give her the best possible chance of success. We started with a modest goal: lose 10 pounds for a Hawaii trip. This evolved into a lasting partnership of over a decade, during which she shed over 41 pounds and 25% body fat, gained muscle, overcame IT Band Syndrome and a herniated disc, managed push-ups and pull-ups, and learned to adjust her nutrition. Starting in her late 50s and now into her 60s, she’s maintained her fitness and health-conscious lifestyle for 15 years and counting.
5. What sets you apart as a trainer?
What sets me apart as a trainer is the relationships that I build with my clients through caring and understanding, as well as my continual education through my research of exercise/nutritional science and studies. Through the years, I have obtained personal training certifications from NASM, NCSF, and NESTA. Most recently, I have had a CPT Certification and Biomechanics Specialist (BMS) Certification from NESTA.
Since I was once on the opposite side of health, I learned to value my health differently than many trainers. I know what it feels like to be unhealthy and the mindset that comes along with it. When I see people struggling, it ignites me to help them succeed. It can feel like a long road, overwhelming, and sometimes even impossible. I’ll apply myself to help my client understand where they are in their journey while highlighting all the small wins along the way to their goal! I live my life every day with health as one of my top priorities. After all the years of living the opposite way and then finding the courage to make the changes, I forged a love and excitement for health and fitness that is beyond comparison. Not a day goes by when I don’t learn and evolve as a trainer. I constantly read studies and listen to the opinions of all the top people in the industry. I truly live the lifestyle!
6. What are your personal fitness interests or hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy being outdoors and the many hobbies that come with it. In my free-time, I do a little bit of everything. I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, cycling, playing golf, and days at the beach or lake! I like to learn and try new things with my cooking. I enjoy movies based on true events, podcasts, sports, and even video games sometimes. For the most part, I’m pretty much up for any enjoyable activity. I like new experiences. Who knows the impact it might have on the quality of my life!
